Our processing steps
How we turn raw paddy into premium parboiled rice
Six controlled steps, one continuous line, and a 45 MT per day installed capacity at our mill in Nasarawa State, Nigeria.

In short
The six stages of rice processing
Rice at Own A Rice Brand Mill is processed in six stages. Paddy is selected and tested, parboiled with steam and dried, de-husked and destoned, whitened and polished, optically color sorted, then automatically weighed and sealed into branded bags.
Step by step
Inside each stage of the line
Open a step to see what happens to the grain and the equipment that does the work.
Step 1Procurement & Paddy Selection
Sourcing the foundation of quality.
We source premium paddy directly from our network of local farmers, through strategic partnerships with trusted rice suppliers, and through open market sourcing for diverse rice varieties in North Central Nigeria. Every batch undergoes rigorous moisture and quality testing to ensure optimal yield and premium texture.
Step 2Parboiling & Drying
Locking in nutrients and starch stability.
Utilizing controlled steam parboiling, we gelatinize the starch inside the grain. This process locks in essential nutrients and hardens the rice to minimize breakage during milling.
Step 3De-husking & Destoning
Eliminating impurities for a flawless product.
Pneumatic de-huskers cleanly separate the outer hull from the grain. The rice then passes through high-density gravity destoners that aggressively remove stones, dust, and heavy impurities, ensuring a safe, grit-free experience.
Step 4Polishing & Whitening
Achieving that signature premium sheen.
High-efficiency friction whitening machines remove the bran layer safely. Gentle water mist polishers follow to buff the grains, giving your brand's rice a brilliant, translucent, shelf-ready finish.
Step 5Advanced Color Sorting
Optical precision for uniformity.
Grains pass through high-speed, monochromatic optical color sorters. Intelligent cameras identify and blast away discolored, chalky, or damaged grains with microscopic air jets, ensuring absolute uniformity in every bag.
Step 6Automated Packaging & NAFDAC Compliance
Final sealing and regulatory readiness.
Finished rice is automatically weighed and sealed into your branded bags, ranging from custom corporate sizes to retail packaging.
